Problem
A mail message was not delivered even though the sender address matches an entry in one of the White List types within the SpamSentinel Administration database.
Background Information
SpamSentinel White List entries may fail to cause a message to be delivered under a few specific circumstances.
Solution
Determine which one of the following cases applies and take appropriate corrective action if necessary.
1. The White List entry type is globally disabled
The options for the configuration field 'White List' allows an administrator to enable or disable entire categories of white list entries. By default the following email address related categories are enabled:
- White List Domain Lookup
- White List Email Lookup
- Personal White List Domain Lookup
- Personal White List Email Lookup
This field is found in the SpamSentinel Server Configuration document on the main tab 'White & Black Lists' in the sub-tab 'White Lists'
2. The message was classified as Spam D
By default SpamSentinel will not allow a White List entry to bypass blocking of an email classified as Spam Category D. This behavior can be over-ridden by selecting the option 'Apply to Spam D' for the field White List Usage which is found in the SpamSentinel Server Configuration document on the main tab 'White & Black Lists' in the sub-tab 'White Lists'
3. The message contains a Virus
SpamSentinel will always block an email determined to contain a virus as Spam Category D regardless of any White Lists that might apply to it.
4. Custom Notes Formula affect how the message is handled
SpamSentinel functionality can be extended or modified by using custom Formulas written in the Notes Formula Language. It is possible that these formula can cause a message to be delivered despite a matching White List entry. Formula configurations are found in the SpamSentinel Server Configuration document on the main tab 'Advanced' in the sub-tab 'Formulas'
