Move SpamSentinel to a different Domino server

Created by Daniel Calkin, Modified on Fri, 31 Jan at 2:47 PM by Daniel Calkin

This procedure is intended for moving a single-server installation of SpamSentinel installed to a Domino server on Windows to a differently-named Domino server also running on Windows and assumes the old server will be shut down shortly afterwards.

1.  In the SpamSentinel Administration database, make a copy of the existing Server Configuration document by using the standard Notes client copy/paste menu options.

2.  Edit the newly made copy of the SpamSentinel Configuration document and go to the tab 'Advanced' then the sub-tab 'Notes/Domino'

                - Update the field 'Server Name' with the name of the new server

                - Update the field 'Server Location of Domino Directory' with the name of the new server

                - Update the field 'Signed Message Mail-in Name' by replacing the CN of the old server with the CN of the new server in the value.  (see field instructions on form)

                - Save and close the document.

3.  Create replicas of the SpamSentinel databases: SpamSentinel Administration, SpamSentinel Reporting and Quarantine on the new server.

4.  Download the new SpamSentinel for Domino installer from our page at https://www.maysoft.com/ss

5.  Open the installer in the Notes Client.  It is best of this Notes client is on a computer sharing the same local network as the server(s) because it will require some fairly large files to be copied to the server from the workstation.

6.  When choosing installer options, in step 5 of the initial installation page, choose 'Primary SpamSentinel Server - Full Installation'

7.  Run through the rest of the installation process to completion.

8.  Set the check mark for the option 'Temporarily disable replication for this replica' in the replication settings of the OLD Reporting database.

9.  Open the NEW Reporting database to the view 'System Profile' and edit the 'System Configuration' document.

10.  In the document, update the field 'Mail Server where SpamSentinel is Running' to the new server name, then click the action button 'Save this Configuration'

11.  Open the Domino Directory on the new server and update the server name in the Mail-In Database documents named 'Quarantine' and 'QuarantineAdmin' from the old server name to the new.

12.  Finished!
