Problem
SpamSentinel for Exchange is configured to scan outbound mail and a message being sent by a user is getting rejected back to them by SpamSentinel.
Background Information
If message headers are sent to DuoCircle support we can attempt to work out why the message was blocked and then send that information to the anti-spam data provider whose information needs updating.
Solution
Example using Microsoft Outlook 2013
a. The user gets an outbound email returned to them by SpamSentinel. They will see
- a modified subject with [Delivery Failure] added to the front
'[Delivery Failure]RE: Meeting | Choice House | February 25, 2020 | 3:00 PM'
- a message body declaring that SpamSentinel caused the block:
"Your message was deleted due to spam or virus content. The message was not delivered to the intended recipients."
b. The user should forward this Delivery Failure email to an administrator to be reported for unblocking to Maysoft
c. In the forwarded message received by the administrator, open the original mail message in a new window by clicking the 'Rejected Message' link at the top of the forwarded Delivery Failure
d. Once the rejected message is open, the administrator should go to the 'file' tab of the message window
e. Then open the 'Properties' dialog using the 'properties' icon in the menu screen
f. Once in the properties dialog box, click on the text in the Internet Headers field. Select all this text and Copy it. I believe <ctrl>-<a> then <ctrl>-<c> is the fastest way
g. Open a simple text editor such as Notepad and then paste in the copied text.
h. To be sure you have the correct information, you should look to make sure that entry for X-SpamSentinel-SN-RefID is found. This section contain the data we will need to send to Cloudmark. For example:
X-SpamSentinel-SN-RefID: v=1.0 c=1 a=0wk8X0VnAAAA:8 a=SSmOFEACAAAA:8
a=pGLkceISAAAA:8 a=yMhMjlubAAAA:8 a=MPp8j8XOCQrgFDcq34cA:9
a=LwsngkSDnahPhOHYix8D:22
i. Save the file as a .txt file and then send that file to us as an attachment in an email to support@maysoft.com.
